War Memorial

Monday 4th August 2014 marked 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.  As a tribute to this, Bruce Beswick, Burton Fleming History Group, compiled a booklet to collate information regarding the fallen soldiers named on the war memorial.

Parish Council  decided that the war memorial was in need of restoration, so, also as a tribute to the First World War Centenary, it was agreed to apply for funding through the War Memorials Trust and a  grant was secured to steam clean and re-letter the memorial.

Following this restoration, Historic England was successful in its bid to have the War Memorial included on the list of buildings of special architectural or historic importance at Grade II.
